Privacy Policy

This policy explains how KaloScan collects, uses, shares, and deletes information when you use the KaloScan mobile application and related services.
Information we process
- Account data: email address, a securely hashed password, verification status, and session tokens.
- Nutrition data: saved meal names, estimated calories and macronutrients, meal times, daily calorie goal, and analysis usage.
- Meal photos: photos you choose are transmitted for AI analysis. KaloScan does not persist the original uploaded photo in its own meal database; the nutrition result is stored only when you save it.
- Subscription data: plan status, entitlement, and expiry information when Premium is enabled. Payment credentials are handled by Apple or Google and are not received by KaloScan.
- Technical data: limited server logs needed for reliability, security, and abuse prevention.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, analyze meal photos, save and display nutrition history, calculate insights and quotas, provide subscriptions, send security emails, prevent abuse, and maintain the service.
Service providers
Meal photos are processed through OpenAI to produce nutrition estimates. Transaction and entitlement data may be processed by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. Transactional email is delivered through our email provider, and application data is stored with our hosting and database providers. These providers process data to deliver their services under their own contractual and privacy obligations.
Legal bases and retention
Where the GDPR applies, processing is based on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in security and reliability, compliance with legal duties, and consent where required. Account and saved nutrition data are retained while your account exists. Expired security tokens and operational logs are retained only as reasonably necessary for security and maintenance.
Your choices and rights
You can review saved meals and change your calorie goal in the app. You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Privacy and security. If you no longer have the app, use our web account deletion page. Deletion removes the account and associated KaloScan data unless retention is legally required.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data and to object to certain processing. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@kaloscan.com.
Subscriptions and deletion
Deleting a KaloScan account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel the subscription in your store account before deleting KaloScan. When configured, KaloScan also requests deletion of the corresponding RevenueCat customer record.
Children
KaloScan is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, encrypted network connections, password hashing, and restricted database access. No system is completely secure. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to applicable transfer safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy as KaloScan evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, when appropriate, an in-app notice.
